NSFW: International Noise Conference 2015 at Churchill's

Miami, FL- What a week. I was able to make it to all five nights of International Noise Conference at Churchill's and made it out alive. The conference is an odd spectacle with such an interesting cast of characters. The "noise" performances range from constant feedback to various forms of performance art. Sometimes you'll look around and think to yourself "who would ever listen to this shit." With this being my second year attending I can kind of get what makes it appealing. It's about freedom of expression. No judgement. You don't have to like it. Noise performances create an energy in the room and when the mic drops, the cord gets unplugged and the silence hits, you notice the void left. You'll hear the weirdest noises through out the week and subject yourself to frequencies of sound that shake loose a corner of your mind that never gets touched. I definitely preferred the more melodic ambient performances, but the thrashing ear splitting stuff has its place at the conference too. Some of the performance art stuff left me wondering what just happened. Did I really just watch a naked woman stick a microphone inside herself? I can't imagine the conference going on at any other place then Churchill's. It's awesome how many people come from all over the country to Miami for INC. You'll see the same people night after night.

The assignment was originally photographed for Miami New Times. Here's the full recap of photos from the week. I've posted Tuesday's photos separately. Some photos do contain nudity.
